Sive Triathlon 2011 - Race Report
Congratulations to everyone that competed in Sive Triathlon 2011. Once again the competition was exceptionally high and the sun shone brightly to cap off a great day. Overall race winner was 16 year old Christopher Mintern in a very fast time of 1:02 followed closely by Aodh O'Neill in second and Tim Mahony in 3rd. The winner of the female category was Karina Teahan who retained her title. Second place went to Patricia Fitzpatrick and 3rd place went to Geraldine Breen.

About Sive Triathlon
2012 marks the 4th year of Sive Triathlon. This Triathlon Ireland sanctioned event is organized by Sive Rowing Club as a fundraising event for the club. The event has been very successful to date, attracting up to 400 competitors in each of the previous years. As an added bonus, the event has become synonymous with sunshine and clear skies. Lets hope it'll be 4th time lucky in 2012!
For the elite competitor, Sive Triathlon ticks all the boxes. The course is accurately measured to the official sprint distance standard. Generous prize money is on offer for the top 3 finishers in the individual male and female categories and a perpetual memorial cup is up for grabs for the overall victor. The local interest in the event guarantees large numbers of spectators around the course thereby creating a great atmosphere for all competitors.
For novice competitors and those new to triathlon, Sive Triathlon epitomises all that is positive and exciting about the sport of triathlon in Ireland. The event offers a challenging but safe course which exposes competitors to some outstanding natural scenery (for those who have the energy to look!).
